I had a total of 4 strokes at a very young age. I was scared! When the doctors came in my room and told me I would have to have open heart surgery. I had a tumor (Benin) on my mitrol vavle, it was breaking off and going into my head causing the strokes. When I met Dr. Waters, something just clicked, and I knew I was in good hands. I dragged my feet a little, but then I just called his office and began the process of open heart surgery. He did an excellent job & I would recommend him to ANYONE that has problems!!! - Jillisa Weaver

I was very satisfied with the service I received at the follow-up visit after my March 19 open-heart surgery. Staff was friendly and helpful from the minute I checked in at the main floor registration desk. After visiting with Dr. Waters (who was in between surgeries) Lisa continued with the questions she needed to ask. We were finished with the appointment at approximately 1 p.m. My appointment with Dr.Singh was at 2:40 and staff asked if I would like to see Dr.Singh as soon as he finished lunch so we wouldn't have to wait until mid-afternoon. I appreciated being able to finish earlier than originally planned. The staff arranging for tests and a May follow-up visit were helpful and pleasant. All in all, it was an excellent experience and we are fortunate to have such a fine facility and medical staff so close to my home in Algona. - L.W

I had triple bypass, aortic valve replacement surgery, 10 days in induced coma, pneumonia, then a stroke, had great staff and doc. am now almost back to normal, 43 days in hospital and West campus.Will begin cardiac rehab 4/3/18. Feeling better every day. - K.S

I like the doctor and his nurses , but to be honest , I'm scared of what they told me , I need to have the surgery or I'll die, and there is a very good chance I'll die on the table because of my other health problems. I'm doing what I was told to do , I've been off alcohol and marijuana for over a week now . I went golfing for exercise and walked the whole course. I only got tired walking up the hills, but over all I felt good. - D.W

Starting this experience with the evaluations of my regular doctors, events moved efficiently to treat the suspected issue. I was admitted to the hospital on the same day following specific diagnostic exams that were scheduled within the 4 days of my being in the hospital. The nurses were very helpful in trying to help me be comfortable and to BREATHE during the day and night. I cannot remember all of the doctors' names but several came in to see how I was doing before and after the surgery. Thank you. I was quite miserable before the surgery and after until my repair so I could breathe effectively and the drainage tubes were removed. Thank you, Dr. Waters, for scheduling my surgery promptly on Monday, for answering my questions, and for being so upbeat and encouraging following the surgery and during appointments. Your nurses, Janet and Lisa, deserve special recognition for all of the questions they have answered for me. I did dread the several IVs and blood draws but know they were necessary. The heart pillow is a practical and clever idea especially with the drawing of the heart and vessels and then marking the surgical area on the pillow. I was assisted by the nurses as needed and then encouraged to do what I could on my own. Thank you for everyones' attention. - S.O
