Scheduling the procedure was easy. We did not wait when arrived at facility. The nursing staff was exceptional. Dee, Jennie and Diane were wonderful, nice, respectful, and caring to my daughter Alexandra. Dr. Jayawardena was very professional. He visited with me following the procedure and told me his findings. Asked if I had any questions. Anesthetic was very nice and explained procedure. Post procedure was good, no complications and we came home. Staff called the following day to check on Alex. Her EGD procedure was quick and painless and all staff were wonderful. - A.S

Another Physician had referred to me Dr. J and ease of scheduling was great. Dr.Jayawardena asked a lot of questions of my medical history and then did an examination. He had me sit back in the chair and he explained a lot of different scenarios that could be going on with my underlying mixed connective tissue disease. He suggested we start with an EGD and go from there. He was so patient with me. While at Mercy Hospital for 9 days, I saw Dr. Jayawardena, his resident, Chris or Don everyday. They always explained everything to me & waited to do surgery in hopes the blockage I had would correct itself, even trying a 24 hour dye to monitor any progress. When that was not to be, Dr. J & his resident, Chris did surgery on a Sunday morning--Mothers' Day which was most impressive as I was the only surgery that morning. My post surgery follow up in the hospital went right according to what the medical staff told me. Upon discharge at my home, I had several questions arise which Dr. J's office answered promptly after checking with him. Instructions differed from package of Go Lytly. and both Instructions were slightly different from that given over the phone by the scheduler . this was worrying. The Hampton Hospital Outpatient Surgery Department Wait Time, Staff, RN (Dee K.), and the Surgical Team I had on June 28th were all extremely very caring, informative and friendly to both myself as a patient and my son who took my down and was my driver to come home. They all made my outpatient surgical experience very relaxing, at ease and positive. After my surgery and I had come out of the anesthesia they were very nice, caring and friendly making sure I was able to swallow properly again and I was feeling well, along with telling me what to expect and to do after I got home (they had also explained it all to my son who said they were really nice and friendly to him). I would recommend Dr. Jayawardena and the Hampton Hospital Outpatient Surgery Department to everyone who asks me. - B.S

Met with Dr J to review upcoming gallbladder removal surgery. I was concerned that he didn't know from my records that I have leukemia and am actively receiving chemotherapy. During the surgery everything went fine. All my immediate questions were answered. However, the problem was with the after care of the surgery. I was given no instructions to take home with me, and there were no verbal instructions on what to do for after surgery home care. They only thing I was informed about, was to just keep the area clean. So I had to research online for some general after care instructions. I asked for a doctors note and I had to walk out of the room and up to the nurses station just to remind them to get the note. Other than that, everything else was fine. - J.K

Everything about my colon/polyp surgery was explained to me before surgery - what was going to be removed and how it would be done and what to expect. After surgery I was told what was removed and that surgery went well. In the hospital when Dr. Jaywardena and Dr. Rowe made rounds they explained to me what to expect during my recovery etc. I had to call his office after I returned home because of allergic rash and was advised what to take/use to clear it up.
