The physician made me feel comfortable with his initial consult/interview regarding a colonoscopy, and the group's staff was exceptionally helpful with scheduling and explaining the needed prep for the colonoscopy. The group's staff made me feel comfortable before the colonoscopy, and we had to wait for the physician to arrive and started 15 minutes later than scheduled, however, the physician works at other centers, and the 15 minutes did not impede my day or worsen the experience. I was most impressed that the group was able to schedule me into a spot that was canceled so I had the colonoscopy the day after the initial interview with no problems even providing me with the needed bowel prep med and thorough directions. - K.K

Because of COVID_19 I was terrified to undergo this procedure. Dr. Bemanian was very patient right from the start, listened to my concerns (repeatedly) and provided me with excellent information. Paritash in the front office was also invariably kind and helpful, especially with problems with accessing the patient portal and the telemedicine link. She actually told me she would pray for me today which was the kindest thing ever! The schedulers were also very helpful and patient, answered all my questions, and clarified my confusion. The staff at the endoscopic center were professional and helpful. They were all properly masked, kept physical distance when possible, and even let me wait outside until the actual procedure. The admitting person, Desiree, was beyond nice, warm, and friendly. The nurses who roomed me and inserted the IV were considerate and gentle. Dr. Kan the anesthesiologist was informative and knowledgeable. Right before the procedure, Dr. Bemanian, although I'm sure he was very busy, took the time to (again) answer my questions, reassure me about the possible diagnoses, and gvve me a clear plan for next steps. Throughout the entire experience, despite the masks and face shields, I felt seen as a person. What could have been a really distressing afternoon ended up with me feeling protected and cared for. 6/20/2019, Thursday: Called to make an appointment with the office due to abdominal pain. This was my first experience with DDC/OC. I was grateful to get an appointment for the following day. Received and filled out documentation online.6/21/2019, Friday: When I checked in, I had to review and complete the documentation on the tablet since I must have missed checking off several boxes in the database questionnaire online. During that visit, I met with Leslie Whitney, PA who was thorough and professional. She took my history and recommended the upper and lower endoscopy for diagnostics. The endoscopy was scheduled for the first opening on following Wednesday, 6/26/2019, 1:00pm.6/25/2019: Prep was a challenge and choking down the 'cherry' drink was the biggest challenge (ick!).6/26/2019, Wednesday: Checked-in at 1:00pm (Hoag building, Suite 110) and was called in at 1:25pm. Preparation, vitals, etc. went smoothly and the staff was very professional. Procedure was comfortable (thanks to the medication). Dr. Bemenian came out and was kind enough to go over the initial results while humoring me in my 'lucid' stupor. (Thanks doc!).6/27/2019, Thursday: Received a pleasant follow-up call from the clinic at around 9:30am to check on how I was doing. I'm feeling OK and beginning to introduce soft foods (yogurt, applesauce, banana, etc.). Was told that we'll need to wait a week for the results of the diagnostics.Thank you,Kathryn Kukulka - K.K

I arrived at 6:35am for check in time of 7:00am. There was another party that arrived after me that got "checked-in" before I did. I figured that it might be with a different doctor and a different procedure which I can understand but having it happen was unsettling because I was already nervous from the procedure already. I felt like the Front Office staff could have done a better job of keeping me informed to help set me at at ease. I had to go up to her to remind her that I had not been checked in just to make sure she did not forget me. The response I got was "I know" which was a bit abrupt. I don't think I got officially "checked-in" until after 7:00am. Then I had to wait in the waiting room for longer to get prepped for the procedure. In retrospect, it also took longer than I expected to get an initial call back to schedule my appointment. I had to follow up with a phone call to see when I could talk to a scheduler. I had a split second thought to contact another center to get the procedure done but thought i would just give it another chance. - G.D

Check in was a breeze and the wait was very brief before Mom was taken inside in preparation for her procedure. The nursing staff was the best in keeping Mom warm while asking questions and getting vitals. They really know their job well. The anesthesiologist explained what he was administering and the possible (but unlikely) side effects. I left and after a cup of coffee they were calling me to pick Mom up. Having a colonoscopy is a difficult procedure to prepare for and Dr. Bamanian's team is very prepared with great supportive handouts with specifics. I made an error in the date and Michelle in the office went out of her way to fix the problem and get me the needed supplies. I was referred to Dr. Bemanian by my GP for abdominal pain. Since I am over 50 and never had colonoscopy Dr Bemanian advised me to do that first. The procedure was scheduled within 1 week, I was given clear preparation instructions and everything went fine: the stuff was friendly but efficient and they explained all details along the way. Dr found and removed one polyp; other than that the whole procedure went pretty smooth and I didn't feel much of side effects, even from anesthesia. I was in and out within 2 hrs. - M.T

My only issue was that I was a new patient and in crisis and couldn't get in to see or even just talk to the doctor for 3 or 4 weeks. I had to continue to work with my alternative doctor which, thankfully, worked. By the time I was able to see the doctor, I was better and my symptoms were gone. I had been suffering with recurring diarrhea for most of the previous 9 months. I now have a diagnosis and , hopefully, have figured out how to stay in remission (?) Time will tell. I did ask Dr. Bemanian, how quickly I could get to him and get help if a problem occurred and he said I would only have to call the office. I am hopeful that I will be able to get help very quickly as I am stuck at home until I do. So far my experience has been very positive! - B.O

This is my first time at the facility. The young lady at the front desk was very courteous and professional didn’t quite understand all the forms so she understood when I said I will talk with the doctor about the forms.The nurses understood me as I am really am a very hard The nurses understood as I am really am a very hard stick When it comes to placing the IV so they waited for the anesthesiologist to do the stick. Everybody was fantastic I have no complaints but a little hard to wake me up yes I am grumpy when you wake me up. Especially since I don’t get very much sleep the night before yes I’m a nervous wreck not anybody’s fault but my own & I hope everybody understands. I’m a little confused with the nurse asked me did I fall within the year and I said yes but she didn’t ask me what happened she just placed me On a fall risk let me set the record straight I went down two flights of stairs because of two little dogs at my Niece home. So will you ask if a person is has fallen just get the whole story. I would say that the facility is fantastic it was a pleasure You’re in your out so glad I won’t see you for at least three years. Oh yeah I love the idea like to do a follow up the next day and I had no problems I like my doctor BemanianGastroenteritis Wouldn’t trade him for all the chocolate in the world. - N.S

Overall great experience! The only thing is that I wish that the colon prep work could be done like in other countries - hassle/inconvenience free! Most notably like in Japan. I know, been there, done that. In Japan the patient can have his normal dinner the night before, followed by some special laxative pills. Then, in the morning prior to the colonoscopy, swallow one liter of special colon cleansing liquid (around 6:00 AM). Actual procedure started at 9:30 AM. Painless! - C.S

Comfortable temperature in the waiting room, minimal wait time, beautiful new facility with large patient bays,. Dr. Behmanian explained the procedure beforehand, although this was my 3rd procedure with him. Afterwards he explained the outcome to my husband and I and gave me a written explanation with color photos of the area under consideration. The prep for a colonoscopy is not fun!! In fact, it is miserable at times, but using the Suprep was the easiest and quickest method of the prep than I have experienced in the past. The first cleanse was much easier to swallow than the second, but I was able to do it. I have anxiety, which makes things like this so much bigger and stressful in my head than they need to be. I was literally shaky when they called me back and then I met my nurse Christina and everything was fine. She was warm and jovial and so comforting, she got me extra warm blankets she made sure I was comfortable and then the Dr came out and I was so much more relaxed before they wheeled me back. Afterwards he came and spoke to my husband and I and put a lot of my fears to rest so that I can relax as we wait for the results. I was very pleased with how fast on how my initial Dr. appointment took. I was brought into the room right away, I was met by the friendly staff, seen the doctor, was authorized to have a procedure done by my insurance & was scheduled to have it the following morning. I didn't even have time to finish filling out my forms till after my visit was done!The next morning the staff was very friendly & offered coffee to my ride home (wife). Was checked in & gowned up with the help of the friendly staff & was administered the sedation & the procedure began right away. I didn't feel a thing & had no idea that this procedure was performed. I am a newer patient to Dr. Bemanian for Lynch Syndrome. I've unfortunately had to have colonoscopies every year for the last decade and will every year for the rest of my life so needless to say, I'm familiar with Gastro Docs and the procedures.Dr. Bemanian is BY FAR the best doctor I've had. His office was clean, his staff friendly and professional. He is incredibly personable and professional and I can't remember the last time I felt so comfortable with a physician. His staff booked me in only one week for my yearly colonoscopy. I didn't have to do a single thing.The prep medication he prescribed me was by far the easiest prep I've ever done(and we know that's often the worst part). The Newport Beach Endoscopy Center was also the most professional and comfortable experience I've ever had. The wonderful woman at the front desk worked out an insurance issue so I didn't have to. I waited only 5 minutes in the waiting room to be taken back for both of my procedures. The nurse that helped me before going into the operating room was the absolute sweetest and most helpful nurse I've ever had. Ever. The Anesthesiologist was thorough and assured me that I'd be comfortable throughout. Once I was rolled into the procedure room, Dr. Bemanian welcomed me and made sure I understood what we would be doing and made sure to answer any of my questions. He even chose to do some biopsies in both procedures to make sure that everything was covered. The staff within the procedure room ran like a well oiled machine. And for once, I didn't feel embarrassed about having a colonoscopy where total strangers see parts of my body so intimately. Once out, the nurse made sure I was safe to leave. The Dr. came out and provided me with all my paperwork/photos and told me they would call as soon as my results came back.The Endoscopy Center also called the following day to check on me and see if I needed anything.After all of this, I am 100% confident in Dr. Bemanian and his staff/care. I wish I could have him as my Doctor for everything.Thank you to him, his office staff and the staff at the Newport Endoscopy Center for everything. I would recommend everyone to him. - K.Z

I arrived at the right time. Signed in and the receptionist greeted and showed me to seat at the waiting room. The wait was short. Very soon a nurse come and took me inside to a preparation cubicule. Asked me to undress and put my clothes I a bag. As I told her I felt cold, she handed e a wormed blanket. Very soon, after I was prepared with the needle with the IV for the anesthesia dmtge doctor greeted me, comforted me and asked if I had any questions. 10 minutes later I met Kevin, a nurse a two other nurses, also very friendly. As they told me to turn to my left, and tucked me comfortably with an extra warm blanket they must started to introduce the anesthesia because the next I remember was to see one of the nurses talking to my daughter, who was the designated driver, and telling me it was done. It was so great that I cannot remember anything to complsin about. GREAT COLON ANS ENDOSCOPY PROCEDURE PERFORMANCE. I think this is my fourth in 40 years. THIS IS TBE BEST EVER. - C.F

This was my first procedure. My real concern was the two migraines, the first on the day of the cleansing proceeding the originally scheduled procedure with Dr. Lee, and then the day of the procedure scheduled with Dr.Bemanian. I would have been more comfortable in the waiting room if I could somehow have gotten an injection of anti-emetic before the sedative was administered. And thank God I was "out like a light" and didn't give in to the nausea conscious or semiconscious. Yoko was very adept at distracting me from the catheter insertion. Thank you nurse ( I've forgotten her name, my apology) for the lack of bruising at the insertion point. I had no pain then or afterwards.Dr. Bemanian seemed like a pleasant man for the moment I met him. The prep pack was brutal. I took the first dose at 4 like instructed but it didn't start working until almost 8. I then took the second dose at 9, again following the instructions. This is TOO late. My system didn't settle in order to go to bed until almost midnight. It also tasted terrible. Last time I did a colonoscopy, I used Prepopik and it was much better and milder. Also, I arranged my procedure with the office more than 6 months prior yet still ended up with a 10 o'clock surgery time. I should have has first in.. Too late. Had to refrain from solid food since 2 days prior. Also too long with this prep. - Z.A

This is the 4th ERCP procedure Dr. Bemanian has performed on her ... each time removing the stones and debris and inserting stents to keep the duct open. The 1st time he performed this procedure, I truly believe he saved her life - as she also had Sepsis.A lot of doctors shy away from performing procedures on someone 95 years old. My appointment was at 1 pm but the office is closed for lunch from 12-1 and they don't reopen until 1 pm. I arrived early but was unaware of the closure. I ended up waiting in the hall with other patients. I would have adjusted my schedule had I known. It wasn't huge wait (under 10) but it wasn't very convenient either. To the room for the procedure. I was met by several technictions and the Anastasiologist. She answered my questions and verified her info. Doctor came in and they gave me the drugs. I woke up and felt great. After I was taken back to my room the doctor came in and told me what he found and answered a few questions. He said he would contact me after the lab results come in and to see him again next year for my annual colonoscopy. The nurse gave me the report of my procedure along with photos. She took the IV out, I dressed and was discharged to my wife. This was a very well executed procedure. At no time did I feel uncomfortable. The staff and doctor were very good at attending to me. I give the team an A - S.H

Dr Bemanian performed an out patient procedure on me today for removal of a stent that he had placed back in July, during an attack of pancreatitis brought on by gall bladder issues. Today, as usual, he was extremely professional, competent and kind. In the past four months I have already recommended him to two different people. They are each seeing him for different issues and are very pleased. He also gets compliments from the nurses at Hoag. One told me today she would definitely use Dr Bemanian if she ever needed a GI dr. His office staff is wonderful and very responsive too! - M.J

Excellent. From the moment I entered the office, everyone was on their toes and very welcoming. Plus they had already obtained my medical records from Hoag, Irvine. Brittany, the nurse who took me to the exam room, was delightful. She was efficient without giving the feeling she was in a rush. She took the time engage in conversation which was fun. Dr. Bemanian is very knowledgeable and to the point. I really enjoyed meeting with him and feel very comfortable moving ahead with having a "double" next month. :) - B.R
