Moved here from TX and had my first Annual Skin Check. Had a great experience all around other than had to wait about 45 min. after arriving on time (which is 15 min prior to appointment). Maybe this had to due with Covid? Expressed interest in certain cosmetic skin issues and was referred to see their cosmetology office-which is in same office. I was able to get in that same day and had a great experience at that consultation--even left with free samples to try. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I had an appointment with Dr. Setzer to follow up on chemotherapy I had in the spring for a Squamous Cell cancer on my nose. She was pleased with the results. She recommended I use the same treatment for a suspicious skin cancer shadow above my upper right lip, which I have done with have the results checked at my 6-month exam in late January 2020. Dr. Seltzer has treated me with surgery on two occasions for squamous cell cancer. I am very pleased with the results and have no complaints. Hello, came in to see Shannon Setzer for a tethered acne scar procedure as well as a couple pucker lines on my upper lip area. She is fun, nice, very efficient and explained how she was going to do these things for me. I enjoyed her company and obvious skill set at getting the tasks done. She does a thorough job on educating the patient on what to expect for best results, how it will look and feel and also if something isn't the best fit as to what the goal is for the patient, I like that. All of my examinations have been fearless on my part and a lot of that comes from my confidence in Dr. Setzer and her past knowledge of my cancer issues...and the fact that her father was my pathologist when I was diagnosed with a serious melanoma in 12/1996....and started clinical Trial in 1/27/1997....(Dr. Hammond, Billings, Mt.)Dr.Setzer also assisted its Bozeman Cancer Center, (Dr. Castillo) with my recent diagnosement of CLL and clinical trial and it was Dr. Setzer who discovered my allergic reaction to IVIG during chemo which could have had serious affects or possibly death. My team of doctors, locally, have been terrific and I highly recommend Dr. Setzer for any and all skin issues and coordination and if necessary, with Dr. Castillo and the Bozeman Cancer Center. `I’m on my second series of micro-needling for acne scarring and aging. Each time it’s been a really pleasant experience from check in through the procedure and check out. Very nice staff and fun people. The discounts on products and ability to gain a little savings is really appreciated as what I’ve chosen to do isn’t covered by my insurance. The Bauman skin type and products have really helped my oily 53 year old skin. Brittany is very meticulous and doesn’t rush through the procedure which makes me feel as though she’s also invested in the results for my scarring. She gives me feedback and answers questions patiently and thoroughly. Really enjoy coming in here, it’s the best experience a person could have, and the separate waiting room for our gooped up faces is nice with coffee and water. From the old location on the East side of town, to the new location on the West side, things have always been great for me here. Dr. Setzer and team took excellent care of me dealing with Accutane during my college days. Everything was easy on Scheduling. The first date was a consultation with Max. What a delight! His enthusiasm and kind words were a great way to start my day. Then when I went back in for the procedure, Dr. Setzer was friendly and calm. She did not like a little brown spot on my back.When a sample was obtained and sent to the pathologist, I was shocked to find out it was a malignant melanoma! On the next visit, the entire lesion was removed and when tested, showed that all the margins were clear. On the next visit, she closed the large, deep wound, amazingly without pain. It has healed beautifully without major scarring. This was my second visit to Dr.Selzer. I had been very favorably impressed with the treatment I had received the first visit. I had been diagnosed eariier b with fungus on my feet by a different doctor and made this appoint ment to see if the condition remaind. For 40 years I have worked in medical education (WWAMI Program) to develop effective physicians who not only know the science of medicine, but also know how to treat patients in a manner that facilitates healing. The most critical part of that process, in my judgment, is LISTENING to the PERSON INSIDE our "bag of bones". Hey, we're all going to die someday. For one, I would prefer not to do it on a cold gurney with sterilized staff who regard me as a body part. Heck no. I want to be treated by a compassionate doctor worthy of the name. That would be Doctor Shannon Setzer, who I have the privilege of calling "Shannon." She's smart, competent, courteous, has a delightful smile, and can burn off skin lesions such that you'd never notice the discomfort. Why? Because she CARES! Of that I have no doubt. She takes the time to visit, not just diagnose. How long will it take to get the above messages across to the general medical community? I tried for 40 years as a professor in the WWAMI /UW School of Medicine. Those four decades showed me minimal progress in humanizing medicine. A tragedy indeed, but a tragedy magnificently reversed daily by Shannon, who really "gets it." I love that woman and her office staff! We joke, laugh, and get down to the essentials of the healing art of medicine (Machines are optional; compassion essential).
