Dr. Thoma performed a Urolift surgery September 20. I am very happy with the results. I am now getting up only once at night. I had my follow up appointment October 19. The ultrasound showed that I am now completely emptying my bladder, before the surgery it was still 30% full after the ultrasound. After the follow up with Dr. Thoma I have stopped taking tamsulosin at night.

Dr. Thoma was extremely thorough and spoke in a way I could understand. I really appreciated the fact that he was able to perform the cystoscope during this office visit since we live an hour away. And he was very accommodating in scheduling a follow-up visit at KRHC Specialty Clinic in Algona.

Dr. Thoma has always been very professional. However, on this visit I felt very discounted. He made me feel like an older neurotic woman. I have been having bladder and urinary problems for 2 months. I felt silly even being there like I was wasting his time. At my urging, he did send urine in for further evaluation, and just yesterday I received a call that I have a bacterial infection. I was just hurt and embarrassed that day. It is my hope that it was just one day out of all the other days when he goes above and beyond to help his patients. Becky Ziesmer

Dr. Thoma and his team performed a Urolift procedure for me. He found I had a bulbar urethra stricter during the procedure, therefore I had a catheter for 2 days following the procedure. That was the most unpleasant side effect. I was sent home with an antibiotic and 3 prescriptions for pain. I actually had no major pain other that an urge to urinate while having the catheter and did not need any of the pain drugs. Once the catheter was removed I improved quickly and by Friday I was pretty much back to normal. After just 1 week I have noticed a larger stream when urinating and I have slept the entire night once and gotten up no more than once other nights.

Dr. Tomas provided time for consultation regarding my issue. He also advised that a second opinion might be a good idea. I welcomed his advisement and am now waiting for an appointment from Mayo Clinic, Rochester.

I would highly recommend him to anyone.When I first came to the urology department, there was much miscommunication from the staff which was very frustrating. It has improved.
