I appreciate the medical staff so much. Christi, who is the patient advocate is so helpful and I find that incredibly beneficial. I came from out of town to have my consultation, so this has been a very good experience. The only thing that is overwhelming is the amount of paperwork and procedures after the consultation. Perhaps provide an overall outline of the bariatric surgical experience to future patients so we know what to expect. For me, booking flights to Austin certainly adds to the expense of the surgery and needs to be planned in advance to get good rates. I have not yet had my surgery, but am anxious and excited about it. I have great faith in Dr. Marquez and her staff. - .G

Everything was excellent up until I woke up and my discharge nurse was a complete JERK. Kept referencing my family was "the Clown" family, my sister asked if my dad (who needs a wheelchair to get around) could come back to tell me buy because he was in pain and needed to get home. Nurse Steve agreed to it, so my sisters left then Steve got pissy and made his own executive decision and just discharge me after waking up 20 minutes later. So I had to dress myself still completely out of it, at least he helped me sit up to even dress my self. Upon taking me to my family he left me in the hall area and walked into the waiting area to let my family know i'm out there. He was completely rude to them. Then for a week later they couldn't find my discharge folder because he had left it in the back of the wheeler chair. - .W

After an abdominal CT scan, Dr. Marquez was consulted and she determined that surgery was my best option for recovery. I was consulted and informed of my choices. I was impressed with Dr. Marquez, with her manner, with her skill (which I heard of from ER staff), with her follow-up visits while I was in the hospital. One of the things that impressed me most was that she listened to me and didn't hurry the hospital visits up. I am glad that she was the doctor who was brought in to do the surgery.
