He is always impressive with his medical knowledge, but more than that, he has a GREAT "bed side manner" you might say. He cares for his patients... a genuine caring spirit for his patients. I respect him very much as a doctor. I might also add that my family and I came to Greensboro in the fall of 1984 (I think.) We immediately sought out a doctor's office when our 3 year old was sick and someone told us about Guilford College. We have been here ever since. The experience was very good, no problems. This was a follow up visit for an issue I was seen for 7 days before that had not improved. Even though I was scheduled to see a different physician, the same nurse who assisted the physician the week before was with this physician.That was helpful since she was able to relay to the Dr. the increase in symptoms, so he had her input as well as mine. She had hardly left when Dr. Ross came in and did the physical. I can never say enough about C. Allen Ross! His personality makes you feel better before he even asks what's wrong with you.In short, the ladies at the front are second to none when it comes to making you feel welcome and appreciated. Fortunately, I am in good health, and I do not have to come to the doctor very often. I come for a B-12 shot each month....no appt. needed, I just show up with medicine and wait for a floater or a nurse to administer the shot,and I come every year for an annual physical. I schedule time for a real physical, where I pay extra, for special tests (for my own benefit and knowledge,)not just the do-nothing Medicare physical. I keep all shots current, and I have an annual mammogram and any other tests I need. If need be, I go to specialists. Sometimes I call the specialist and make the appointment; sometimes the primary doctor makes the call.I make my wellness visits easy as I also have regular checkups with the dentist, the ophthalmologist, dermatologist,gastroenterologist, whatever I need.I relate easily with Dr. Ross. He listens to what I have to say, sometimes looking at me as if he thinks I am crazy! In any case, we communicate. Over 20 years, Dr. Ross has become a trusted and much cared for friend, as well as my primary care physician. He is so knowledgeable and so intuitive--the combination is what I wish everyone in the world could find in their doctors! One example from two years ago: I was having a lot of pain around my sternum and my groin area. I thought it seemed like a GI problem of some kind. Stupidly,I did not see Dr Ross first; I went to a GI specialist--who performed three expensive tests that said everything was normal, then sent me to a really expensive specialist who performed another three tests and found everything normal. Then I went to see Dr. Ross. He listened to where it hurt and asked me, "Weren't you in a car accident a few months ago, hit from behind by someone who was texting? Well, if you were hit from behind, your airbags didn't deploy, but your body was thrown forward and back, forward and back. The places you're having pain are exactly where your seat belt would have held you tight every time you slammed forward. So now the place where your ligaments attach to your ribcage and your pelvis are stretched and inflamed. Go see so-and-so and have deep tissue laser therapy. You'll be fine in three weeks. Well, after all those GI visits and all that money, Dr Ross's memory and intuition and knowledge of both standard and alternative healing methods led him to the exact right diagnosis and, having treatments twice a week for three weeks, I've never had a problem in that area again! - .K
