Dr Wolteres is the best primary care physician I’ve ever had and I just turned 71. She remembers details about my medical history that I ‘ve forgotten. During my office visit I mentioned a condition a specialist had diagnosed and insisted I had. I said I didn’t think I had it. She said she thought she had run tests and came to the same conclusion the specialist did. Sure enough, she had the date and results of those tests in her notes- from over a year ago. People always complain their doctors treat them like a number- that experience proved to me she treats me as an individual, not a number. Dr. Wolters likely saved my life because what was a routine check up, I wasn't even sick, I had just come in to get a release form sign, discovered I had an enlarged thyroid which lead to an early diagnosis of thyroid cancer. They were really with me every step of the way between, the ultra sounds on my neck to the biopsy to the surgery and Dr. Kerr who kept me on track afterwards with my endocrinology needs. Called to schedule an annual exam, and took the earliest available in August of 2018. Doctor's office called me a couple of days later to say an opening had popped up, and they could get me in much earlier. Made two appointments for same day, one early in morning for fasting bloodwork, one in the late afternoon for the exam. I really liked that set-up and didn't mind making two trips at all. Dr. Wolters was friendly and professional as always, taking the time to listen to health issues I'd been experiencing since thyroid surgery 8 months earlier. She connected symptoms I described (which I thought were after-effects of surgery) to elevated blood pressure, and she thoroughly explained why. I was pleased she didn't push me toward medication, but rather suggested I first try some lifestyle/diet changes for 4 to 6 weeks to try to bring the blood pressure down naturally. Immediate check-in and I was quickly taken to the examination room. As always, I received professional and respectful treatment by nurse as well as the doctor. The nurse recorded my complete history along with recording my many natural supplements accurately. Took complete information on reason for visit and what I hoped to accomplish. Dr. Wolters came in as soon as the nurse had left. There was no waiting time at any stage of the visit. I never felt rushed and I knew that Dr. Wolters heard what I said. I was instructed to see a specialist she had previously referred me to for further studies of my condition. The blood tests I had requested were performed quickly with no wait. Some were added to get a more complete picture of my health issues. Entries were quickly posted to my Portal along with personal notes from Dr. Wolters. When specialist could not see me within the time constraints I had, Dr. Wolters set up an ultrasound herself and I will call her for further instructions when that has been completed. I went in for my Wellness exam. The nurse that helps Dr. Wolters is excellent. She weighed me, checked temp and checked my blood pressure. Then Dr. Wolters came in and was very nice and ask me questions about how I feel and any problems. She checked my breathing, my neck, ears,feet and stomach. I ask her question about cramps in my legs at night and she ask me what are all of the vitamins I take and she said that I could stop calcium that it will cause leg cramps. She is very nice and very through with my exam. She is the best Doctor I have been to at Eagle. I then had a blood test. They informed me the next Monday that there showed a elevation of sodium and to make sure to drink a lot of water and come in two weeks from then to have a blood test and not fast before coming in. Dr. Wolters has been our family (3 generations) for 8 years. My wife, daughter, and I consider her to be the best family doc we have ever had. She is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, and has great patient skills. For example, she diagnosed our grandson (18 months old at the time) as having Kawasaki Disease, a rare life-threatening (at that time) vascular disease. Dr. Wolters was out of town on vacation when we took him to the Eagle office twice for a high fever and cold-like symptoms. When his condition continued to worsen, we brought him back to the office for the third time. Dr. Wolters was back from vacation and saw him. He still appeared to have a cold. That night she continued to worry about his condition and called us around 9:30 PM to check on him. Dr. Wolters went to the office early the next morning to research other potential causes of his symptoms. She obtained our home phone number and called to to tell share her suspected diagnosis of Kawasaki and she arranged to have him admitted that morning to Moses Cone Hospital. My wife was not home at that time, but Dr. Wolters asked for her cell phone number so that she could call and personally call her and answer any question that she may have and to alleviate worry. That is really caring about her patients and their families. Her diagnosis was confirmed. He had five coronary aneurysms, two giant sized, and three large sized. He spent more than a week in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit before he was stabilized sufficiently to go home. My wife and I are certain that her follow-up and prompt actions saved our grandson's life.We have recommended her to friends and acquaintances when say they were looking for a new doc. I had a wellness exam with Dr. Wolters in October 2015. I made a list of my concerns before the appointment, her nurse made a note of each in the computer, and Dr. Wolters addressed each in detail in addition to the exam. There was no long wait time in the reception area or the exam room. An appointment for some more lab work was scheduled for a month later (which was completed quickly) and my yearly wellness exam was also scheduled.
